"I have always been a fan of click and Pawl trout fly reels in part due to their foolproof design and lighter weight. So I was very pleasantly surprised to hear that the original Islander IR3 was being relaunched. I was able to fish the new IR-III this past stillwater season and it was everything I had hoped the new design would feature. First and foremost is its larger capacity that now handles 5 and 6 wt lines. A larger diameter arbor has also been incorporated as well as a stronger clicker spring and new drag adjustment knob. I also can’t forget to mention that the sweet and smooth sound of a big fish peeling line off the reel is still there.
