Ricky Ehau lives in the beautiful South Island of New Zealand and travels back to B.C to visit his wife's family as often as possible. He was introduced to Islander reels by a former Canadian Fly Fishing Team captain, and is overjoyed to be able to utilize them exclusively to fish the remote crystal clear back country rivers for New Zealand's legendary trophy brown trout.

He is Vice President of the regional fly fishing club (the largest in NZ) and runs fly fishing trips for anglers of all levels of experience. Known as "The Mad Maori" he is widely regarded for his simple yet innovative tying techniques, his ability to test gear to the max and his love of chasing the wiliest of trout.

Ricky is proud to have become a "friend of Islander" and is looking forward to introducing the Islander brand to fishermen down under.
